Sarangani & Glan local governments join forces to beat ASF

GLAN, Sarangani (November 16, 2021) – Some hog growers from barangays Batulaki, Pangyan, Calabanit, Calpidong, and Cablalan in Glan receive sentinel pigs, feeds, and other veterinary products during the “Babay ASF” activity on November 9. A total of 100 identified growers whose hogs were infected by the African Swine Fever (ASF) received each a hog and feeds. The activity was a joint endeavor of Glan Mayor Vivien Yap, Department of Agriculture 12, and the Sarangani Provincial Veterinary Office. Andrew Kristian Baliton, Agriculturist II of DA 12, urged the cooperation of the growers in the efforts to finally declare Glan free from the African Swine Fever (ASF). “Confident po kami with the help of the farmers na maa-achieve natin ‘yung green zone,” Baliton said. The agriculturist also commended the efforts of the Provincial Government of Sarangani and the Municipal Government of Glan under the leadership of Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon and Mayor Vivien Yap, respectively, for working “hand-in-hand” to address the ASF cases in the town.
