Biggest carabao in Mindanao prize delivered by Sec. Piñol in Maitum

MAITUM, Sarangani (July 16, 2021) - Former Agriculture Secretary and now chairman of Mindanao Economic Development Authority (MinDA) Emmanuel "Manny" Piñol hands over a breeding yard set of Manok Pinoy to 88-year old farmer Flaviano Tamba (seated) as his prize for winning the online search for the biggest carabao in Mindanao. The prize given at barangay Pangi on July 13 is composed of 60 heads of Manok Pinoy breeders, the backyard chicken strain which Piñol personally developed in his farm, and given to the owner of the 18-year old biggest carabao in Mindanao. Tamba bought the young bull when it was only about 4 years old from a farmer from Barangay Lebe, Kiamba in 2005. This was actually part of the online fun game held by Piñol thru his official Facebook page last May, in line with the celebration of the Farmer's Month, to seek for the biggest carabao/bull in Mindanao. Tamba’s son Lorenzo sent photos of his father’s huge carabao together with his grandchildren on top of it and he then won the contest hands down.
