BIDA Gensan plays featured in Mindanao Week of Peace

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (December 15, 2020) – Norman Ralph Isla (2nd from right), founder and artistic director of the Basic Institute for Dramatic Arts (BIDA) General Santos City, receives a plaque of appreciation as one of the partners in the celebration of the Mindanao Week of Peace 2020 on December 12 at LEX Forum Function Hall. In the midst of the pandemic, BIDA Gensan was a great help in pushing through the activities and advocacies of the Mindanao Week of Peace through the creation of four virtual plays that focused on peace and development in Mindanao particularly in Region 12. The four plays were “Bigkas ng Pagkakabigkis” written by John Jay Morido which talks about violent extremism; “Pandasal” written by Norman Ralph Isla which talks about interfaith dialogue; “Mga Tala sa Lupa” written by Karen Umadhay which talks about peace and conflict; and ”Tunglo” written by Jaydee Paid which focused on healing and reconciliation. BIDA Gensan is a small group of professional and student volunteers with a passion for theater and playwriting. (Jake Narte-Joshua John Pantonial/SARANGANI PROVINCIAL INFORMATION OFFICE
