ALTRANSMULCO drivers get gov’t subsidy as passenger capacity cut by half

ALABEL, Sarangani (July 3, 2020) – Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, commuters from Poblacion, Alabel observe the new system in riding public transportation on July 2 as part of the guidelines under the “new normal” scheme. Jimmy Molejon, a member of the board of Alabel Transport Multipurpose Cooperative (ALTRANSMULCO), said “halos tulo ka-bulan mi wala kapamasada kay amo jung gituman ang protocol nga gipagawas sa gobyerno nga wala usay byahe, so naapektohan jud sa lockdown pati ang among panginabuhi”. Under the new normal, from the usual 18-passenger maximum capacity, ALTRANSMULCO reduced their passenger load to nine to follow the 50% maximum capacity to ensure that physical distancing is applied. Despite the situation, Molejon said “wala mi nag over-charge sa among pamasahe”. Passengers in ALTRANSMULCO terminal were also observed to undergo foot bath, thermal scanning, hand sanitizing, and fill-up their locator slip. (Jake Narte-Joshua John Pantonial/SARANGANI PROVINCIAL INFORMATION OFFICE)
