MSMEs feed frontline workers

ALABEL, Sarangani (May 2, 2020) – Sarangani Marine reservists receive food packs from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Sarangani on April 30. The food products were distributed by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) staff to some frontline personnel assigned at the checkpoints and quarantine posts in Sarangani. The products were produced by Sarangani’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) who were affected by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. The 300 food packs in total were part of the DTI’s “Conduct of Organizational Culture Initiative in this COVID-19 Pandemic Crisis”, which were turned over to the Local Government Unit of Sarangani on April 21. According to PDRRM officer Rene Punzalan, “all personnel manning the quarantine posts in Alabel and some parts of Malapatan situated at the highway and in sitios were the target recipients of the distribution today (April 30)”. Punzalan added, “this is already our fifth wave sa pagdi-distribute ng food packs sa ating mga frontline personnel.” Sarangani through the PDRRMC has already received assistance from Sagittarius Mines Inc. (SMI), Dadiangas Halal Catering Services, Dadiangas Glass, Department of Science and Technology, Alliance Select Food International Inc. and DTI.
