Discipline: First step to fight Covid-19

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (May 21, 2021) – Ma. Kristyl Joy Ytac (right), medical technologist of Sarangani Healthcare Facility (SHF), conducts an RT-PCR test to Glaselle Bendol (left), medical technologist of the Provincial Department of Health Office (PDOHO), during the personal protective equipment (PPE) donning, doffing and specimen collection training on May 20. The activity was conducted to edify new swabber members of the Diagnostic and Testing Support Teams or the so-called Sarangani Blue Angels in performing antigen and RT-PCR tests among probable Covid-19 patients in the province. Allan Roy Cagampang, provincial disease surveillance coordinator, said “this is done to aid our first batch of swabbers na napapagod na din with all the loads na sina-swab nila lalo pa at dumadami yung cases because of the risk-based target testing na we are currently implementing dito sa province.” Risk-based targeting is the active case finding through performing antigen test in barangays reported with high cases of Covid-19 which Cagampang pointed out “may malaking risk na marami pang cases na hindi nakikita.” Cagampang also extended his gratitude to all the leaders of the province especially Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon together with Vice Governor Elmer De Peralta, Deputy Speaker Ruel Pacquiao and the rest of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan members for their full support to all the frontliners in the province. He further reminded the public to always practice the minimum health protocols. “Huwag magkukumpyansa kahit nandiyan na ‘yung vaccines,” said Cagampang. “Maari pa din tayong mahawaan because the vaccine will only lessen the risk of having complications ngunit nasa atin pa din ang first step of protection which is discipline.” (Jake Narte-Joshua John Pantonial/SARANGANI PROVINCIAL INFORMATION OFFICE)
