ALABEL, Sarangani (July 21, 2022) – Equal Access International (EAI) and Sarangani’s Ronda Probinsya (RP) information advocates convened for a workshop on Thursday, July 21, to identify priority issues that they can partner to work on co-creating solutions for issues confronting communities in the province.

Sarangani Ronda Probinsya is the flagship program of Governor Rogelio “Ruel” D. Pacquiao anchored on a seven-point agenda which is geared towards a resilient and progressive Sarangani.

According to Jehanna T. Pelima, program manager of RP Kalinaw and RP Sarangani Bangsamoro Affairs Program, the different platforms EAI presented would aid them in addressing issues and gaps identified on the ground through research conducted for the province’s previous Sulong Kapayapaan program.

From the gaps identified, Pelima said the Kalinaw Program, a special program of RP, would focus on the development of capacity of community members to sustain peace at the household level through the Culture of Peace and values formation approaches.

Joel D. Dizon, EAI program manager, said they partnered with the previous Sulong Kapayapaan Program on the different campaigns like “delving into different issues on violent extremism, peace, conflict, as well as women empowerment.”

Pelima, however, said the partnership that they would forge soon with EAI through a memorandum of understanding would not be limited only to Kalinaw Program but would cover all the special programs of RP.

Dizon said the messaging hub is the most effective platform for RP “kasi ‘yung messaging hub is very flexible and wider ang reach when it comes to the different issues in the community.”

Messaging hub is a convergence platform for social change movements in Mindanao with Institute for Peace and Development in Mindanao (IPDM) and Maguindanaon Development Foundation as co-hosts.

(Ivan Polonan - CDU-PGO/PIO)

ALABEL, Sarangani (July 18, 2022) – The provincial government of Sarangani turned over 100 units of antennas for Learning Resources on Wifi Hub for Expanded e-Learning in Sarangani or LR on Wheels to the Department of Education Sarangani Division.

The antennas, which amount to Php150,000, will be used in the continuous implementation of LR on Wheels in Sarangani.

The turnover was held on July 18 during the flag-raising ceremony at the Capitol grounds and was initiated by Provincial Administrator Atty. Ryan Jay Ramos, along with heads of offices of the Capitol, to the LR on Wheels working committee of DepEd Sarangani.

LR on Wheels is an innovation of DepEd Sarangani to make e-learning possible for far-flung villages in the province, particularly those outside of the service coverage of major telecommunications companies and internet service providers.

It utilizes an offline learning management system broadcast over an access point through an intranet where learners can hook their gadgets in order to access learning materials like digital copies of learning modules, interactive worksheets, and videos.

The project, which was launched in 2020, was authored by Roy Detoyato, Information Technology Officer of DepEd Sarangani.

It was established to eliminate one major concern in e-learning which is internet connection, and supports the digitalization of today’s learning process.

This innovation of Sarangani province is also now being replicated in other parts of the country like South Cotabato, Batangas, Palawan, and many others. (Jake Narte-Jori Mae Samillano/SARANGANI PROVINCIAL INFORMATION OFFICE)
