ALABEL, Sarangani (April 11, 2022) – Some heads of offices and representatives of the different departments of the Capitol lead the wreath-laying rites on April 9 at the Capitol grounds in celebration of the 80th Anniversary of the Day of Valor or Araw ng Kagitingan. Pursuant to Executive Order No. 203 series of 1987, the country commemorates the Araw ng Kagitingan on every 9th of April of every year, along with the celebration of the Philippine Veterans Week on April 5-11 by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 466 series of 1989. These celebrations are held in remembrance of the valor of the Filipino freedom fighters and war veterans who fought and defended the country during World War II in 1942. The 80th Araw ng Kagitingan commemoration is anchored on the theme “Kagitingan ng mga Beterano, Inspirasyon ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino.” (Martin Fernando Bernad Jr.-Jori Mae Samillano/SARANGANI PROVINCIAL INFORMATION OFFICE)
