Councilor Alegario of Malungon elected PCL-Sarangani president

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (July 27, 2022) – The Philippine Councilors League (PCL) Sarangani Federation has elected its new set of officers for the term 2022-2025 on July 26 at Greenleaf Hotel, General Santos City.

Councilor Evelyn Alegario from Malungon was elected president of the federation; Joel Aton from Alabel as the vice president; Dianne Jade Sambaga of Malapatan - secretary; Hermie Galzote from Alabel - auditor; Freddie Balazon from Maitum - public information officer; and Kyrud Alegado from Glan as the business manager.

The newly-elected members of the Board of Directors were composed of Lydia Hizoler, Jeric Santillana, Norberto Butiong, Victor Padernilla, Aldwin Labongan, Zusima Del Rosario, Bonifacio Pacquiao, Cornelio Martinez, James Pimentel, Margarito Lanticse, Jocelyn Grafilo, Remigius Mayled, Joselito Escobar, and Cesar Nallos.

All the elected officers were unopposed during the election proper.

During the election, all the 76 councilors province-wide composed of Sangguniang Bayan members, Liga ng mga Barangay (LnB) Presidents, Indigenous People Mandatory Representatives (IPMR), and Sangguniang Kabataan Federation presidents from the seven municipalities of Sarangani were present.

Engr. Samuel Camaganacan, provincial director of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), was also present during the activity.

Malungon Mayor Maria Theresa D. Constantino administered the oath-taking rites, where she extended her congratulations to the elected officers.

Constantino encouraged the officers to "make love as the foundation" in their service for the development of Sarangani and for the welfare of its people.

"Dako kaayo ang role sa PCL para sa kaayuhan og dungag development sa Sarangani, og mas lami ni buhaton kung himuon nato ang gugma nga atong drive para matuman ning atong mga visions," the lawyer-mayor added.

According to Alegario, part of their platforms as the newly-elected PCL-Sarangani officers are capacity building of all the municipal councilors regarding local legislation, maintaining the brotherhood among the members of the league, and raising funds for the members’ health and other benefits.

Alegario added that they will also look into the possibility of doing an initiative to create a "PCL Foundation" to benefit the different communities in Sarangani, "especially the far-flung areas," which will include activities like tree planting, feeding programs, and medical missions.
