Sarangani reaps praises as Chief PNP visits for the first time

ALABEL, Sarangani (August 27, 2021) – Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar told Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon during his command visit on August 26 he is confident that his men are “taken care of” with how “governance” in Sarangani is managed.

“Nagpapasalamat kami sa tulong na binibigay ninyo sa PNP not only to the Police Provincial Office but also to the seven police stations in the province,” Eleazar said.

Eleazar visited Sarangani Province for the first time with some other high-ranking officials to check on the “situation, security, and the health status” of his men.

“I was really impressed with how you handle the situation” with the evolution of the Covid-19 Inter-Agency Task Force guidelines and the challenge of implementing health protocols and regulations which are constantly changing from general community quarantine to moderate or enhanced, he told the governor.

Eleazar was also grateful for enjoining the PNP in the local government unit’s enforcement of the Covid-19 guidelines and protocols and for administering vaccination against the coronavirus to the police in the province.

The PNP chief said 42% of the PNP personnel nationwide had been fully vaccinated while at least 36% was accounted in Region 12.

On August 13-16, the Provincial Health Office vaccinated some 123 personnel from the Sarangani Provincial Police Office.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Arvin Alejandro also reported to Eleazar the participation of the PNP is among the strengths of the provincial government in its fight to curb the spread of Covid-19 infection particularly in the implementation of Oplan Sita with 34,000 actions recorded in the first and second quarter on “individuals not properly wearing mask, not properly implementing distancing, and not properly wearing face shield.”

Another contribution of the PNP that Alejandro identified were the 21 PNP personnel trained on contract tracing which, according to him, had been a great help in the tracing, testing, and isolating probable cases.

In his command visit, Eleazar’s first stop was at the Alabel Municipal Police Station where he lauded the personnel under the command of PMAJ Wesley Matillano for the station’s cleanliness.

“Nakikita natin sa station na ito bagamat hindi ito ‘yung tinatawag na standard police station building, hindi bago, hindi magarbo, pero sa loob at labas napakalinis,” Eleazar said.

In passing, Eleazar explained to the police officers the implementation of his Intensified Cleanliness Policy where he pointed out police stations are the “show window natin sa ating mga kababayan dahil gusto nating tumaas ang kumpyansa sa atin ng ating mga kababayan.”

“Yung napaka simple na programa, ‘yung basic na paglilinis at talagang malinis at maayos na police station ay nakikita ko doon.”

Eleazar also commended the Sarangani Provincial Police Office for “doing good” while he told Governor Solon that it is “up for the challenge to widen necessary assistance to the public through the LGUs.”

In response, Solon said he is “happy that Sarangani Police Provincial Office is growing in stature and its accomplishments are amazing” as he noted the contributions of the PNP on their fight against Covid. Especially, with the first reported case of Delta variant in Sarangani, Solon said with the aid of the PNP “hindi kami magrerelax sa pagtest, trace, and isolate.” (Beverly C.
