Sarangani now under general community quarantine

ALABEL, Sarangani (March 20, 2020) – Governor Steve Chiongbian has declared the whole province of Sarangani in a state of general community quarantine, the latest order he released to strengthen measures to maintain the province’s status as a COVID-19 free.

He signed Executive Order No. 8 on March 19.

In the order, “non-essential travels to and from the Province of Sarangani,” shall be prohibited.

However, it excludes travels pertaining to “healthcare, peace and order, disaster risk reduction activities and procurement of essential goods,” outside of Sarangani.

“Travel to and from work” are likewise exempted. Skeletal workforce and work-from-home arrangements are presented on a separate executive order for implementation starting March 23.

Solon also “strongly advised” in the order for highly-vulnerable people like infants and children below 17 years old, senior citizens, pregnant women and those having pre-existing conditions like hypertension, diabetes mellitus, renal disease, cancer and respiratory ailments to “isolate themselves and just stay home.”

The governor also imposed strict implementation of “enhanced quarantine” of PUMs (Person Under Monitoring) from Manila, Hongkong, Macau, Italy, South Korea and other countries with reported transmission of the pandemic corona virus disease (COVID-19).

All barangays in the province, he said, with PUMs and PUIs (Person Under Investigation) “must intensify disinfection activities.” (Beverly C. Paoyon/SARANGANI PROVINCIAL INFORMATION OFFICE)
