Sarbay security heightened

GUMASA, Glan, Sarangani (May 26, 2018) - Sarbay organizers increased the number of uniformed personnel patrolling the Sarbay events area and its surroundings to ensure the safety of Sarbayers.

According to Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon, they raised security manpower to almost 500 this year.

A high-ranking police officer also said some 200 plainclothes security personnel were also deployed in Gumasa.

As a new strategy, a Sarbay watch tower is positioned at the middle of the main venue so that the Philippine National Police (PNP), the lead agency of Sarbay security, can easily monitor any peculiarities and suspicious individuals.

In addition, five other security stations are placed in strategic areas and also monitor 24 hours during the whole Sarbay duration.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and Philippine Navy likewise complement Sarbay’s security requirement, Solon said just to “put in all the physical barriers to ensure that Sarbay is secure.”

However, he urged every Sarbay citizen to be vigilant in playing “their role in security so, if they see anything that seems odd,” they could immediately report to authorities.

“The PNP booth is elevated and is right at the middle of the events area. They will respond to any request that you have in terms of security,” Solon said.

Medics and rescue teams, composed of the Provincial Health Office, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, Bureau of Fire Protection among others, also have standby teams ready to respond to emergencies. (Beverly C. Paoyon/SARBAY COMMS SERVICE)
