news | posted on 06/17/12 @ 4:24 am

As of 9am, June 17
The PDRRMO reported that a thorough validation of names of missing
fishermen was conducted at Maasim yesterday. PDRRMO and MDRRMO staff
went to coastal barangays and talked to barangay officials and
relatives of the reported missing persons. The confirmed missing
persons were reduced to 13 (12 from Maasim and 1 from General Santos
City), from 35 the previous day.
The missing persons were identified by the MDRRMO as: Erning, Francis
Vil Fadal, Ronnie Fadal from Colon, Maasim; Nestor Leones from
Kabatiol, Maasim; Allan Minggasca, Rene Ordonez, Jesser Senina, and
Cesar Sunico from Kablacan, Maasim; Jun Santellana from Malbang,
Maasim; Roberto/Lolong Alberca and Omar Bualan from Poblacion, Maasim;
Nasser Andong from Tinoto, Maasim; and Danilo Giagonia from General
Santos City (as reported by the Philippine Coast Guard).
These missing persons are still subject of the continued search and
rescue (SAR) operations of Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Navy and
of Maasim Rescue Team.
At Glan, most of the families whose houses were totally damaged are
now reportedly staying in the homes either of their relatives or of
their friends. Fifteen (15) families from barangay Cross, however,
continue to stay at the staff house at the side of barangay gym as
their houses have not yet been fixed.
On the issue of drinkable water, the assessing teams reported that it
is no longer an urgent problem. They have observed that local people
are now using cleaner water as there was no more complaint of stomach
aches/diarrhea.
