GLAN, Sarangani (June 13, 2012) – The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (MDRRMC) declared this afternoon the entire municipality of Glan under a state of calamity following Tuesday’s early morning flashfloods that already affected 20 barangays.
Mayor James Victor Yap presided over the MDRRMC wherein he approved the resolution declaring the state of calamity.
With four barangays “greatly” affected by the flashfloods, Mayor Yap said the declaration was prompted by reports from barangay captains that 16 more barangays have also been affected although assessment is still ongoing for the rest of the barangays.
As of 12:00 noon today, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) reported that the number of fishermen rescued has increased to 73. However, one more person, Cesar Alipio, 50, of Kiambing, Maitum was added to the missing list bringing the total number of missing persons to 11. (SARANGANI INFORMATION OFFICE)
