MAITUM, Sarangani (June 12, 2012) – Mayor Elsie Lucille Perrett and Vice Mayor Tito Balazon lead officials in the wreath-laying and flag raising ceremonies at the municipal grounds during today’s nationwide celebration of the 114th Philippine Independence Day. Maitum, which is known as sanctuary of the endangered marine turtles and offers the white-water river tubing adventure, is also home of the 2000-year old anthropomorphic burials jars which is unparalleled in Southeast Asia. A diorama of the ancient jars is on display at the Municipal Hall atrium. (Beth Ramos/MAITUM INFORMATION OFFICE)
