PRESS STATEMENT :: PRESS STATEMENT
Sarangani Provincial jail inmate Muhamad Jafar Maguid a.k.a. Tikboy forcibly escaped from cell no. 4 on or about 2:00 am. on March 4, 2010.
Maguid, detained since August 3, 2009 at the Provincial Jail in barangay Baluntay, is facing charges of murder, destructive arson, robbery with violence against and/or intimidation of person, robbery with violence against and/or intimidation of person.
A spot report submitted by Provincial Guard III Cesar Abdon, guard on duty, to Provincial Warden Renato Purisima indicated that a routinary headcount of the inmates was made by Provincial Guard II Benjamin Tondog, Jr. at 12:00 midnight and reported the number of inmates detained at the Sarangani Provincial Jail was complete.
At exactly 5:30 am., inmate Cris Golada reported to Provincial Guard Abdon that inmate Muhamad Jafar Maguid a.k.a. Tikboy escaped through the ventilation of the building and one of the steel bars was sawed off where Maguid passed through.
Hot pursuit operation is being undertaken by the police for the immediate recovery of the escapee.
Governor Miguel Dominguez has ordered a full investigation relative to the escape of Maguid.
Provincial Jail Warden Purisima has submitted himself for investigation. All outgoing guards (from 4:00pm.-12:00 midnight) are under investigation within the next 72 hours. They are Cesar Abdon, Benjamen Tondog, Ragie Bogador, Venancio Maude, and Frederik Tañedo.
Abdon, Tondog, Bogador, Maude and Tanedo are directed to submit their persons to the full conduct of investigation by the Philippine National Police and other law enforcement agencies.
Assistant Provincial Warden Manuel Sales has been directed by the Governor to supervise jail operations until the investigation is over.
